nom de Dieu dans la Bible hébraïque après qu'il se fut manifesté à Moïse sous la forme d'un buisson ardent. Ce nom est indiqué sous forme d'un tétragramme qui signifie "je suis qui je suis"; les chrétiens ont transformé Yahvé en Jéhovah en ajoutant les voyelles du mot Adonaï, "mon Seigneur". On distingue dans la Bible les livres (ou passages) où Dieu est Yahvé et ceux, moins nombr. et antérieurs, où Dieu est élohim.
